"Young Jesus." It's not a long band name by any means, but it's kind of a mouthful, isn't it? What if John Rossiter's one-man indie rock project went with something shorter and punchier instead? What if he cleaned that name up a bit? What if he called it... Teenjus?I don't know. I'm just spitballing here. Throwing out some ideas. Anything can happen in a brainstorm. Rossiter's last Young Jesus album was 2014's The Fool, and he followed it with the benefit EP John Case a few months later. On Bandcamp today, he shared a mythic country-rock freakout called "The Devil." Rossiter plays every instrument on the track, and he sings it in a multitracked falsetto yowl. It's a weird one! Here's what Rossiter has to say in the Bandcamp description:I took the money I made from scoring a documentary about Ferraris and bought a violin from Gary Chen at Stein on Vine. I brought the violin to Hen House Studios, laid down a drone over a drum machine and finished the instrumentals in a day.
