Four-fifths of the classic ’80s King Diamond lineup have reunited to form the new band Lex Legion. The group has announced that its self-titled debut album will be out in June 2026, with the first single, “Sleep Eternally,” coming on March 31st.
The lineup includes Andy LaRoque, Mikkey Dee, Pete Blakk and Hal Patino of the King Diamond lineup that recorded the iconic albums “Them” (1988) and Conspiracy (1989). They are joined on vocals by Nils K. Rue of progressive metal band Pagan’s Mind.
Regarding the musical connection to King Diamond, LaRoque said, “The song style is different but still from the same era. The riffs are different and the arrangements are a little less progressive and a little more straightforward.”
Dee, also known for his work in Motörhead and Scorpions, added, “Lex Legion is totally written the way we thought in the ‘80s. We wrote what we wanted, and if you liked it, that was a great bonus. If you didn’t like it, that was fine with us, too!”
Meanwhile, Blakk noted, “This is totally unique. No one is writing this kind of music and there’s a big hole for us to fill. The album is a journey and every song is like the beat of a movie. I want listeners to travel back.”
Stay tuned for more album details and the lead single on March 31st. Lex Legion are expected to start touring next year.
