ZZ Top to Keep Touring in the Wake of Drummer Frank Beard’s Passing

ZZ Top are honoring their summer US tour dates despite the passing of longtime drummer Frank Beard on Monday, August 17th. The band is only canceling two shows, but will pick up the tour this Friday, August 21st, and continue through its conclusion in early October. As reported, Beard died at the age of 77 in hospice care at his ranch in Richmond, Texas. He had stepped away from touring with the band earlier this summer, with drummer Michael Monahan taking his place. Get ZZ Top Tickets Here Frontman Billy Gibbons stated, “The band of which [Beard] was part for six decades is going to keep on keeping on as he had wished.” In a post on their social pages, ZZ Top announced that they are only canceling their next two shows in Salt Lake City and Colorado Springs, but will resume touring this Friday at Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino in Eagle Pass Texas, followed by a pair of concerts over the weekend in Austin. From there, the tour will hit the Midwest, Northeast, and Southeast before rapping up October 9th in Port Wentworth, Georgia.
