Wilkinson Drops Off a Dose of Drum & Bass Gems on ‘Infinity’

2 hours ago 2

Searching for the next drum and bass album that you can stream until the end of time? Wilkinson’s latest body of work, Infinity, will fit the bill.

Wilkinson stands tall among the greats in the drum and bass scene. A true champion of the sound with a career spanning over a decade, he’s helped usher in the current era dominated by dancefloor-forward elements and vocals that hit the right spot. Now, he’s set his sights on further strengthening his discography with the release of his fifth studio album, Infinity.

From Lazers Not Included and Hypnotic to Portals and Cognition, each album Wilkinson crafted has been filled with immense tunes that showcase his creativity and have won over fans new and old alike. Infinity continues this tradition and sees the UK DJ and producer soar even higher by unleashing a wave of 14 tracks that range from solo gems to collaborations with artists outside the drum and bass realm.

At its core, Infinity is an approachable drum and bass album, perfect for longtime lovers or anyone looking to dip their toes into the genre for the first time. You won’t find soundscapes that are too aggressive, feature gritty vocals, or make you feel a sense of unease. Instead, you’ll be taken on a sonic journey that features moments where you’ll feel like you’re soaring, others where you want to move your feet on the dancefloor, and even some where you’ll melt into an emotional puddle. It’s dancefloor drum and bass at its finest.

Solo tune “All The Way” acts as a solid intro for the ride you’re about to take, swelling with energy that makes your body move when it hits. “Drop It” breaks from standard convention, layering in acid elements that feel more like a psychedelic ride intended to warp your mind. Meanwhile, “Come Down” showcases more of Wilkinson’s signature style, dripping with enough energy to get your feet moving while balancing other subdued elements.

One of the biggest standouts on the album is already on its way to becoming a classic: “Never B Mine.” The track, which first dropped in 2023, sees Wilkinson team up with Kioto Bug for a sultry gem that’s filled with subtle elements and an atmospheric ambiance. Another solid offering is “Shine On,” which features house music legend Kaskade and singer-songwriter Paige Cavell. The three crafted a soundscape with melodic moments that make it feel like a pure celebration. These show off the duality of Wilkinson’s sound and why he’s such a great fit for festival mainstages and more chilled-out environments alike.

The title track, featuring ILIRA, Tom Cane, and iiola, and others like “Ultraviolet” with Katy Alex, “Back To Life” with Julia Church, and “Break It Down” with Emily Makis, is a perfect example of Wilkinson’s prowess when working with vocals. Memorable vocal stabs, soul-stirring lyrics that fit the melodies, and moments clearly designed for the crowd to sing along are layered masterfully. The closing track on Infinity, “Balance,” captures this fully as well, with gorgeous vocals from NORTH that uplift listeners with a warm, fuzzy feeling inside as the final seconds tick away.

If you want an album you can play throughout the rest of spring, summer, and beyond that will put a smile on your face and your day brighter when you listen to it, Infinity is for you. Give the album a spin on Spotify or your preferred platform, and stay tuned for more from Wilkinson by following his social media channels.
