Weapons Prequel Gladys Now In the Works with Zach Cregger Writing

Despite what the ending of Weapons might have implied, we haven’t heard the last of Amy Madigan’s Aunt Gladys. Deadline reports that Weapons writer/director Zach Cregger is teaming up with Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire screenwriter Zach Shields to write Gladys, a prequel focused on the witchy menace.

Madigan won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her terrifying turn as a woman who uses dark magic to control people, often for sinister purposes. Deadline doesn’t confirm whether Madigan will appear in the prequel, or if it’ll feature a much younger Gladys’s origins, but theoretically it would confirm which of two backstories Cregger created for the character (letting Madigan choose one of them to inform her own performance).
