A US Army battalion is reportedly offering soldiers time off to play Grand Theft Auto 6 as a special “incentive” to reenlist. That’s according to a written directive shared on the U.S Army WTF! Moments Instagram account, which has 328,000 followers. The memo has the subject line “Special Reenlistment Incentive – Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) 4-Day Pass” and stipulates that “any officer who signs a reenlistment contract between 1 August 2026 and 14 November 2026 will be authorized for a special 4-day pass”. The special pass “is specifically designated to coincide with the highly anticipated release” of the new GTA game, the memo continues, though the “exact dates” when it can be redeemed are to be “coordinated between the [individual] soldier and their chain of command”. However, the memo states that no officer can be granted more than “four consecutive days” of leave to spend careering around Leonida. The memo is signed by a commanding officer named Ryan D. Hodgson, who appears to be genuine, though this is obviously no guarantee that the letter isn’t simply a well crafted fake.
