The Hollies Call It Quits After 64 Years

After 64 years, English pop band the Hollies are calling it quits. The group started out in Manchester in 1962, and Graham Nash led them before leaving to form Crosby, Stills, & Nash in 1968. The Hollies' string of '60s and '70s hits includes "Bus Stop," "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother," "Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress)," and "The Air That I Breathe." In recent years, the lineup has included guitarist Tony Hicks and drummer Bobby Elliott, both of whom were in the band in the early '60s. Yesterday, the Hollies shared in an instagram post that Hicks will no longer be able to tour due to health issues, and Elliott is stepping away from the stage in solidarity.Their full statement reads:Due to health reasons, Tony has decided to step away from touring.Out of respect for Tony and everything they have shared throughout their remarkable journey together, Bobby has also decided to retire from touring.After more than six decades, The Hollies’ touring career will come to a close with immense gratitude to the fans who have supported them around the world.The Hollies played their last show this past January in Scottsdale, Arizona.
