The Claypool Lennon Delirium have unveiled the song “Meat Machines” as the latest single from their upcoming album, The Great Parrot-Ox and the Golden Egg of Empathy, set to arrive on May 1st.

The duo of Les Claypool and Sean Ono Lennon take things in a more melodic direction on this tune, with Lennon’s lead vocals evoking those of his late father, the iconic John Lennon, and giving the song a bit of a Beatles vibe, albeit with Claypool’s distinct bass playing.

“Some people think humans are just biological machines,” stated Lennon of the new single. “They think free will is a hallucination and we’re destined to be replaced by robots. Not only are they happy about this, but they’re actively trying to make it happen as fast as possible. Some of us think we still have a choice. We think there’s something special about living, breathing and feeling. We believe we can shape our own destiny, because we know we are more than just ‘Meat Machines.’”

“Meat Machines” follows previous single “The Golden Egg of Empathy,” which was named our Heavy Song of the Week upon its release last month.

The Claypool Lennon Delirium will be touring as part of the “Claypool Gold Tour,” which will also feature the singer-bassist’s bands Primus and The Fearless Flying Frog Brigade. The outing kicks off May 20th in Reno, Nevada, and runs through a July 4th show in Napa, California, with tickets available here.
