The Body and Cel Genesis announce collab album Whole Wide World

The pairing of the Portland and Oakland bands grew from an idea hatched on tour, with few rules beyond friendship, humility, and trusting each artist’s distinct process. Lead single “Candy Crush” was previously available only on Bandcamp and is out now on all platforms. It signals the collaboration’s movement between trance, distortion, and experimental electronica. Cel Genesis’s Chris Danko describes the record’s rhythmic core as “two drummers locking in together”. He adds: “There was a really great moment where they kept playing after the song had ended, because it was just so much fun.” The LP was recorded at Machines with Magnets, the Rhode Island studio/live music venue, by Seth Manchester (Model/Actriz), with additional recording in California by Andrew Oswald. It evolved over two years, across several sessions and rounds of editing. Some pieces were built from beds of electronics generated by Cel Genesis, while others grew from live drumming by Lee Buford and Nick Cowman, then were reworked and rearranged.
