System Of A Down‘s Daron Malakian has blamed Oasis for England’s World Cup loss at the band’s second Tottenham Hotspur Stadium show.

At the alt-metal band’s gig last night (July 15), the guitarist accused the Britpop legends of causing England’s downfall playing against Argentina at the World Cup semi-finals.

Despite Anthony Gordon scoring an early goal 55 minutes in, England’s substitutions for defenders meant the Argentinians clinched the win, 2-1.

Now, footage of the band commiserating England’s loss at the show has been shared. At the massive gig, Malakian responded to reports England scored a goal by chanting “I heard England just scored” and “Let’s go England” during the middle section of ‘Dreaming’.

He also told the audience: “If you guys lose, I blame Oasis”.

Liam Gallagher later commented on England’s loss through Twitter, despite previously predicting England to win the semifinal. Though he didn’t directly address Malakian’s remarks. “Respect to the lads it’s nobody’s GOD given right to win the WC”, he wrote. Gallagher then congratulated Argentina: “Best team won onwards n sideways LG x”.

He added that England wouldn’t win a World Cup trophy “until we get street wise”, explaining: “That goes for the mangers it’s all got too technical let the kids run wild”.

Oasis and System Of A Down have sustained a long-running feud, ignited by Noel Gallagher in the early ’00s.

Around the time the band released their classic 2001 album ‘Toxicity’, Noel told US radio: “I’m actually alive to hear the shittiest band of all time”.

When SOAD played their first gig at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on July 13, they hit back at the band by telling the crowd: “We have a song about a tapeworm. Just for fun today, I’m going to name the tapeworm ‘Oasis’”.

Malakian then encouraged the audience to chant: “Puuull Oasis out of your ass.”

We gave SOAD’s Tottenham gig a five-star review, writing: “Tonight is similar to Oasis only in that every single person in this place is going totally ape-shit from start to finish, but System Of A Down ultimately defy and redefine what stadium rock is and can be.

“The circle pits don’t relent throughout, but we know what we’ve been waiting for.”

Elsewhere, Liam Gallagher has said he’s “ready” for a World Cup ‘Wonderwall’ performance if England reached the final.
