Sony and Marvel Studios have finally unveiled the trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day following months of unauthorized leaks and social media reveals.
Picking up four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the film Tom Holland’s Peter Parker “now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.”
Soundtracked by instrumental version of LCD Soundsystem’s “New York, I Love You but You’re Bringing Me Down,” the trailer gives us out first looks at Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher .We also get a glimpse at MJ’s (Zendaya) new boyfriend, and the return of Michael Mando’s Mac Gargan from Spider-Man: Homecoming (does he finally become Scorpion?). What we don’t see is Sadie Sink mystery character (Jean Grey?), nor Marvin Jones III’s primary antagonist, Tombstone, but we do get a few cameo teases of other classic Spider-Man villains in a series of shots recreating iconic comic covers (Boomerang, Tarantula, and The Hand ninjas).
Most shockingly, there’s a moment where Holland’s Peter Parker breaks out of a web-cocoon and seemingly shoots organic webs from his wrists. Could this be hinting at an evolution of Spider-Man’s powers, potentially leading to the hideous six-armed Man-Spider? It would align with a number of rumors, but we’ll see when Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31st, 2026.
With Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) replacing Jon Watts in the director’s chair, Spider-Man: Brand New Day comes from a script by Home trilogy scribes Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Other cast members include Jacob Batalon, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Tramell Tillman. Rumors have it that Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and perhaps even Florence Pugh’s Yelena will also have cameos; with speculation being that Brand New Day takes place concurrently to Doomsday, perhaps Yelana wants to recruit Spider-Man into the New Avengers.
