Ridley Scott has given his reaction to Quentin Tarantino saying he directed the best film of the 21st Century. The Oscar-winning director of Pulp Fiction declared Scott’s 2021 war movie Black Hawk Down as the best of this century so far in a podcast discussion last year. The film was placed above Toy Story 3, Lost in Translation, and drama There Will Be Blood. The latter film led to some controversy after Tarantino disparaged its star, Paul Dano. Speaking ahead of his new film The Dog Stars, Scott was asked by The Times what he thought of the assessment. “I wonder what he was on, because whatever it is, I want some,” he joked. When asked if he agreed, the director simply replied: “No!” Featuring a massive ensemble cast that included Josh Hartnett, Ewan McGregor, and Tom Hardy in his first film role, Black Hawk Down is based on the real life efforts to rescue the survivors of two Black Hawk helicopters that were shot down during the Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia in 1993. The movie was a box office success and won Oscars for both its editing and sound.
