Prince's estate compiles unreleased recordings on Timeless

Leading the collection is "The Guilty Ones", a previously unreleased track from 2007 released now as a single with a music video. It was recorded by Ian Boxill at Paisley Park, Minnesota, the estate Prince lived in, since opened as a museum. Charles F. Spicer Jr., co-owner of Prince Legacy LLC, says the sequencing was designed to underline Prince's range. "From one of the earliest recordings of his career to one of his final live tour performances, these ten songs reveal Prince as an artist who was always fearless, innovative and creative on his own terms," he says. "Ending the album with a final tour performance felt especially meaningful because it captures the connection Prince had with his audience, with everyone singing along and the applause at the end reflecting the love and energy in the room." The collection was mixed and mastered by Chris James, a former Prince engineer whose credits include HITnRUN Phase Two (2015) and Art Official Age (2014). James also recorded the Timeless track "Bestest Friend" at Paisley Park in 2012. The album was produced by L. Londell McMillan, Spicer, and James.
