Police Investigating Dead Newborn Found In Porta-Potty At EDM Festival Electric Forest

Heartbreaking news out of Electric Forest: A newborn baby was found dead in a portable toilet at the Rothbury, Michigan EDM festival, sparking a police investigation.

An employee of the restroom vending company discovered the child in a porta-potty in the festival's camping area Sunday morning during routine maintenance, local news outlet WZZM reports. Michigan State Police described the baby as a "neonate," meaning an infant four weeks old or younger.

"If you were in the area and observed anything unusual, or if you have information that you believe may be relevant, we encourage you to come forward," the Michigan State Police told reporters. "We appreciate the public's cooperation and ask that people avoid speculation on social media out of respect for the investigation and those affected." "Forest Family, it causes us so much pain to have to share this difficult news with you," festival organizers wrote in a social media post urging people to cooperate with the police's investigation. "HQ is heartbroken and knows that our Forest Family is as well."
