Back in May, Petey USA continued to explore his mix of emo, heartland rock, and electronics on the new single "Kiss The City." He's since given us the bummed-out synth-pop slow-build "Like A Mantra," and now there's a third new self-produced track.
This week's "Save For The Horses" turns the tempo back up but keeps the contemplative posture as Petey paints a portrait of a certain Type Of Guy. The track is strewn with zany samples and bars like "I think that I'm way smarter than my therapist" but carried by Petey's heart-on-sleeve vocals. The end result is something like the Postal Service if their vibe was a bit more Warped Tour, which works a lot better in execution than in theory.
