In the video, Elizabeth drinks a potion and submits to a procedure in the hope of becoming, as the song’s lyric puts it, “perfect to the bone,” only to end up swaddled in bandages. The visual language is knowingly retro, pulling its monochrome and oppressive close-ups from the 1960 Twilight Zone teleplay. The 22-year-old artist grew up on an isolated mountain in Washington state’s Cascade Range, where her musical education was split between her mum’s love of Rosemary Clooney, Doris Day, and Connie Francis, and her dad’s vinyl stack of The Zombies and The Kinks. She started recording with a $12 microphone, eventually uploading an early demo of what would become her breakout track, "Vegas Venetian".
