Those Holy got their start as a live band, making “music for the night” as Connor describes, and bringing their cold wave, gothic-pop sound to Liverpool’s local venues — and recently, a London show opening for Mandy, Indiana
“New Skin” arrives as the first preview of their recorded work, of which Grey says: “Beneath any mask, anyone is capable of intense feelings of obsession that can completely consume them. The track is about what happens when those feelings take over, the ugliness, the desperation, the absolute loss of control.”
With Cold Celtic Electronics, Connor, who grew up in Newry, and Grey, who was raised in a small village in North Wales, aim to switch up the sentimental connotations of “Celtic” in favour of a sound that’s colder and more club-centric. We want to subvert that for sure," says Connor. "But those sentimental sounds and images are important; we don't want to take away from them, but add to them”
