This spring, Lily Allen brought her tour supporting West End Girl, her recent concept album about the breakdown of her marriage, to theaters across America. She was set to bring the show stateside again in September, this time in arenas. That plan has since been adjusted.
Monday, Allen posted an update on her North American tour schedule. "I am so beyond excited to bring West End Girl back across the pond this September!! It has been so surreal playing this album to such epic crowds this summer," she wrote on Twitter. "Thank you for singing every word with me."
The tweet contained an updated itinerary featuring smaller venues in several markets, along with another message detailing the changes:
We have a few updates since we first announced this leg of the tour earlier in the year. I am SO excited to say we are now coming to Seattle, tickets on sale July 24, 10AM local.
For Philly, Chicago, LA, San Francisco, Vancouver, we've had to make some adjustments. If you've already bought tickets to these shows, you will be refunded in 5-7 working days and automatically entered into a presale that goes live July 22, 10AM local. General on sale will go live July 24, 10AM local. Montreal, I am so sad to say we tried our hardest but will not be able to make it to you this time. NY, Boston, Toronto, Detroit, Minneapolis, Red Rocks - you are staying as is. Tickets on sale now :))
Allen has never been nearly as popular in North America as in her native UK, so an arena tour always seemed overly ambitious, and that's before you factor in the polarizing nature of her current live show. On this tour, she's strictly performing West End Girl in full with props, sets, and costume changes, in a manner resembling a one-woman theater performance. There's no encore and no older material, so anyone hoping to hear their favorite songs from prior albums like Alright, Still — which turns 20 this week — are out of luck.
Check out the updated itinerary below.
