Lael Neale Announces New Album As Killers Do: Hear “Slip Away”

Just last year, the LA-based indie rock minimalist Lael Neale released her album Altogether Stranger on Sub Pop. This fall, she'll follow that LP with a new one called As Killers Do — sick title — on her own label Consensual Sound. Lead single "Slip Away" is a haunted, sophisticated garage rock jam that sits on some grand cosmic continuum between Stereolab and the Ramones. It promises great things ahead.Neale recorded As Killers Do on a Tascam eight-track machine in her Echo Park kitchen. Once again, she did everything with longtime producer and collaborator Guy Blakeslee, the former Entrance Band leader. "Slip Away" has Neale on Omnichord and Blakeslee on guitar, and Chris Coady mastered it. In a press release, Neale explains the song like this:We act as little gods. Assuming great import. All that we build, create, collect and become, to be taken away. We are not gods. The only consolation I have in a world of megalomaniac billionaires and sociopathic leaders. They all will die.
