Jelly Roll and Carín León have joined forces for “Lighter,” a new song included on the official soundtrack of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In a country-rock style also known as “swag rock,” the song finds Jelly Roll and León channeling anthemic power and providing soulful, escalating vocals. León sings about half of his part in Spanish, helping cement the track’s cross-cultural reach. It was produced by Cirkut, known for his much-more-versatile work with Lady Gaga, Charli XCX, and The Weeknd. Though it really sounds lab-designed for car commercials, “Lighter” will undeniably be played in ad interludes before, during, and after World Cup matches. Stream the song below.
“Lighter” will appear on the new soundtrack album for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, which goes down this summer in the US, Mexico, and Canada. FIFA President and general sleazeball Gianni Infantino teased the new album, guitar in hand, in a social media video earlier this week; the project will feature numerous collaborations from artists around the world, with its tracklist being revealed in the coming weeks.
Jelly Roll has a busy year ahead, with a 2026 co-headlining tour alongside Post Malone and his own US headlining run coming. Get tickets to see the Jelly man here. León is also set to embark on an extensive 2026 tour, during which he’ll become the first Latino artist to headline the Sphere in Las Vegas. Get tickets to see him here.
Meanwhile, the US, Canada, and Mexico are all gearing up for a massive World Cup summer, which runs from June 11th to July 19th. The match schedule is out now, and tickets sold out pretty quickly — but you can still get your hands on them here.
