Jacob Alon announces live double album from sold-out Roundhouse show, shares Nirvana cover

The Fife artist’s Roundhouse show arrived almost exactly a year after their debut, In Limerence, and capped a period of impressive momentum. In the months surrounding that album, Alon won the BRITs Critics’ Choice award and BBC Introducing Artist of the Year, picked up Rolling Stone UK’s Play Next Award, and was shortlisted for both the Scottish Album of the Year and the Mercury Prize. This spring they added two Ivor Novello Awards to that list.

Live From The Roundhouse runs to 13 tracks, pulling material from In Limerence alongside the Nirvana cover. The press release frames it as the album at its most beguiling and Alon at their most devastating. It’s a phrase that fits a performer whose live reputation rests on a held-breath intensity, letting songs unravel with just voice and a piano or guitar, and trusting the room to lean in.

The live album’s announcement lands in the middle of a busy summer. Alon is currently playing a string of outdoor dates supporting Lewis Capaldi in Cardiff, Leeds, Newcastle and London’s BST Hyde Park, with festival appearances at Latitude, All Together Now in Ireland, Haldern Pop in Germany, Boardmasters, Musickfestwochen in Switzerland, and Into the Great Wide Open in the Netherlands.

The Edinburgh Summer Session date on 24 August sees them support Florence + The Machine. In October, Alon heads to North America for their first headline tour there, with dates in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and New York, before a return to London for Pitchfork Festival at Hackney Empire on 4 November.
