Hayley Williams Wraps First US Tour With Jenny Lewis, Julien Baker, & American Football Duets

1 week ago 12

The eventful US portion of Hayley Williams' first-ever solo tour has come to a close. Over the past week, the Paramore singer wrapped up her Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party tour with three headline shows at the Wiltern in Los Angeles, bringing out a bunch of special guests: On Tuesday, she brought out Jay Som's Melina Duterte for Jay Som's "Past Lives," Jack Antonoff for "Good Ol' Days," Rachel Brown (of opening act Water From Your Eyes) for "Discovery Channel," and Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino for "Parachute."

In the midst of promoting her solo stuff, Williams also launched a new project called Power Snatch with Daniel James earlier this year. On Wednesday, Williams and James brought out Brown's Water From Your Eyes bandmate Nate Amos for his This Is Lorelei song "Perfect Hand," a song Power Snatch recently covered for the Box For Buddy, Box For Star super deluxe edition a couple of months ago. On Friday, the surprise guests were Jenny Lewis for Rilo Kiley's "Silver Lining," Reggie Watts for "Good Ol' Days," and Julien Baker for "Parachute."

Lastly, Williams' tour concluded with a set at Salt Lake City's Kilby Block Party festival last night, marking her her first solo festival set. Tom is on his way back from Kilby right now, and he told me to tell you guys that her set was "fuckin' sick." Williams didn't bring out any guests for that one, but earlier that day she joined her pals in American Football for their 2019 duet "Uncomfortably Numb." See some relevant clips below.

EU/UK dates for the Hayley Williams At A Bachelorette Party Tour begin on June 5 in Milan, Italy. Her Newport Folk Festival set on July 24 is billed as "Hayley Williams & Friends," and she sure has a lot of friends to choose from! But starting Sept. 3 in West Palm Beach, Florida, she'll be staging "The Hayley Williams Show"; that run is expected to include songs (including collaborations) from across her solo career, while her current tour setlists have only included songs from Ego Death.
