‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ preorders are skewing overwhelmingly to the ‘ultimate edition’

Nearly 90% of preorders for Grand Theft Auto 6 are for the more expensive Ultimate edition, according to a new report. Market research company Sensor Tower told GamesIndustry.biz that a massive 89% of preorders are for the $100 (£73.75) Ultimate edition as opposed to the $80 (£59) Standard edition. Sensor Tower also confirmed that the Ultimate edition is proving equally popular on Xbox Series X|S, where 90% of preorders are for the more expensive version, and PlayStation 5, where 88.5% of preorders are for the premium edition. Sensor Tower’s SVP and GM of Video Game Insights, Karl Kontus, told the outlet that while premium editions “always tend to perform well during the preorder period”, this figure is still pretty unprecedented. “That being said, I have never seen a 90% premium share before,” he said. “A 50% premium share during preorders is a great number.
