‘Glee’ creator Ryan Murphy considering a reboot

Ryan Murphy has said that he is open to reviving Glee in a new form, after seeing the musical series find a new generation of fans. Murphy co-created the musical comedy-drama with Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, with the show running for six seasons between 2009 and 2015. Speaking to People at the New York premiere of his new FX series The Shards, Murphy said that he had noticed that younger audiences have discovered Glee, giving it a renewed sense of relevance. “That show is interesting because it’s come back around,” he said. “So many young people now watch it. And I’m like, ‘Maybe we should revisit that show’.” “My nostalgia and love for that show is enough that I’m like, ‘Well, maybe people would like to see a new incarnation of that in some capacity’,” he continued. “So yeah, I love that show, and I loved what it became and what it meant to so many people.” Glee followed the members of the New Directions show choir at the fictional William McKinley High School, combining musical performances with storylines covering sexuality, race, bullying and relationships.
