Erykah Badu and The Alchemist Announce Collaborative Album, Share “Witch Doctor”: Stream

Erykah Badu and The Alchemist have officially announced that their collaborative album will be released on August 28th, teasing the project with the new single, “Witch Doctor.” Stream it below. Co-produced by Badu and The Alchemist, the joint project — currently listed on digital platforms as Sorry, we don’t have an album title yet … — was recorded in Dallas and Los Angeles during an 18-month period. A spark for the album began more than three years ago, after Badu told her longtime creative partner, Cold Cris, how she had always wanted to rap over Alchemist’s beat for Mobb Deep’s “The Realest.” Find Erykah Badu Tickets Badu and The Alchemist met shortly after, with their conversations quickly turning to recording a collaborative project. The first session produced “Next to You,” and they established a sonic language where Alchemist’s production was “embellished” with instruments added by Badu.
