"Emo as f*ck": Remi Wolf returns with "Twiggy" single, first new music in two years

“I wrote Twiggy about people I’ve been with that lack both butts and emotional availability,” Wolf said. “And how I like that. Or maybe it’s just about the messiness of addiction? Idk, you decide :)” Written during a retreat in Big Bear, California, after years of near-constant touring, "Twiggy" emerged from a deliberate slowdown. Working with a small circle of collaborators, Wolf gave herself room to lean into what she calls her “emo as fuck” side. “I felt this permission to be honest and be my raw self,” she explains. “Because of that, the writing process didn’t change, but the writing changed.” The 7-inch’s demo b-side offers a rawer look at the song’s skeleton, stripping back the production to showcase the bones of the track. Since her early EPs, Wolf has become a regular on major festival bills, with slots at Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Outside Lands, and has supported artists including Paramore, Lorde, and Olivia Rodrigo.
