Director Mary Bronstein Teases Daisy Chain Fields Film

Last weekend, Olivia Rodrigo headlined her own one-off festival Daisy Chain Fields in Irvine, California, and it looked fucking awesome. During her set, Rodrigo performed with Stevie Nicks, Sarah McLachlan, and Alanis Morissette, and the day also featured sets from acts like Chappell Roan, Doechii, Mitski, the Breeders, Garbage, Bikini Kill, Die Spitz, and Quiet Light. The benefit raised $10 million for women’s rights nonprofits, and Melinda French Gates announced that she's doubling that total with a $10 million donation of her own. Most of us couldn't be there, but we might get to experience the show in movie form.

Some Rodrigo fans noticed that Mary Bronstein, writer and director of the great and harrowing 2025 movie If I Had Legs I'd Kick You, filming the festival. On her own Instagram Story, Bronstein posted an image of stacks of analog film, writing, "Nothing makes me happier than piles of shot 16mm..." film. It sure looks like it was taken at a festival. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but this development certainly fits with a recent trend.
