Dahi – “How To Pray” (Feat. Kendrick Lamar & Amber Mark)

Anytime that Kendrick Lamar shows up on anyone else's song, it's news. Earlier this year, for instance, Kendrick was on his protege Baby Keem's album Ca$ino. Today, he's on a new record from Dahi, the veteran Inglewood-born rap producer. Dahi's new album Black Boy (Alternative) would be a big deal even without Kendrick. It's a layered deep-concentration soundscape constructed in a style that Dahi called "Black Radiohead," and it's full of prominent guests: Chidish Gambino, Vince Staples, Moses Sumney, Ravyn Lenae, Fousheé, Channel Tres, Obongjayar, plenty of others. Dahi recently performed with a bunch of them. The man formerly known as DJ Dahi has a long history with Kendrick Lamar, having worked on classics like "Money Trees" and "Loyalty." On Dahi's new song "How To Pray," Kendrick duets with the great R&B singer Amber Mark, the two of them flowing melodically over tricky, complex production that includes some Brazilian-style acoustic guitar. Mez, another of the guests who appears on Dahi's album, directed the song's video.
