Chilli Insists “I Am Not MAGA” As TLC Announce Tour With Salt-N-Pepa & En Vogue

During the Thursday's iHeartRadio Music Awards, TLC, Salt-N-Pepa, and En Vogue performed a medley of hits, and the following day the three groups announced a tour together. But that grand comeback news has been marred by the discovery that TLC's Chilli donated hundreds of dollars to Donald Trump's 2024 presidential campaign.

Federal Election Commission (FEC) records show that in 17 total contributions throughout the 2024 election, Chilli, born Rozonda Thomas, donated $210 to Republican-endorsed fundraising platform WinRed, $486 to Trump-affiliated super PAC Never Surrender, and $200 dollars to the Trump National Committee JFC. On top of that, earlier this month Chilli reportedly reshared a post from a right-wing conspiracy account spouting the theory that former First Lady Michelle Obama is a man. That post has since been removed from her account.

Chilli addressed the controversy in an Instagram post last night, writing:

I WANT TO BE CLEAR: I am not MAGA and do not support any of the many policies that are causing great harm to the American people. I made a mistake too many make: I did not read the fine print. I thought I was supporting causes against human trafficking and for veterans.

Two things I care deeply about as my dad is a veteran and everyone knows I love children. I have learned a valuable lesson and ask for grace as I navigate this.

In a video alongside the same post, Chilli said:

I wanted to come on here to address a few things that's circulating on the Internet that's very concerning to me. Let me say this first: I have the utmost respect and admiration for Michelle Obama, and I would never say or do anything that is disrespectful to her or to any woman. I would never do that. And I had no clue that this repost had happened until I started getting phone calls and text messages from everybody, and I immediately went to my page to see what was going on.

Now, mind you, I'm not very computer savvy, so I'm looking for this repost button, and I see that all of them, all of these buttons are very, very close to each other, and clearly I was scrolling and my thumb hit the repost button. Again, I had no clue that something like this happened until I got all the calls.

This isn't the first time Chilli has expressed some questionable political views. Back in 2017, when asked about her feelings towards the Black Lives Matter movement, she opined that "all lives matter," while her bandmate T-Boz added that "I don't care about Donald Trump" because "God is my president." See Chilli's recent post below.

For what it's worth, Salt doesn't mind:
