Ghosts of American Psychonauts was recorded at The Pico Union Project in Los Angeles over Valentine's Day weekend last year, soon after the release of The Purple Bird. Today, Bonnie "Prince" Billy shares a live version of his song "London May", featuring Samhain drummer London May, one of three songs from the 2025 album to feature on the live collection. The performance features Oldham's touring partners Thomas Deakin on clarinet and down-tuned electric guitar, and Jacob Duncan on flute and saxophone, alongside additional guests including Emmett Kelly on bass, Ryder McNair on piano, Dv DeVincentis and Patrick Shiroishi on saxophone, and Dave Ferguson — who produced The Purple Bird — on vocals for "Downstream". "Everyone on the stage (on this record) knows how to tell stories, musically, and relies on this storytelling to create liveable real spaces," Oldham says.
