Directed and produced by Rob Hatch-Miller – known for the Other Music documentary and Syl Johnson: Any Way The Wind Blows – the film draws on material shot during Sugar’s recent run at New York’s Webster Hall and folds in previously unseen archival footage, excerpts from Mould’s memoir See A Little Light: The Trail Of Rage And Melody, and sit-down interviews with Mould, bassist David Barbe, and drummer Malcolm Travis. “It seems to have been one of the happiest eras of Bob's life,” Hatch-Miller said. “We found so much great archival footage, like Lance Bangs' never-before-seen video of the band's first show ever at the 40 Watt Club in Athens, footage of Bob's solo acoustic European festival tour with Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr. and Nirvana in 1991, and so many clips of Bob and the band on MTV's 120 Minutes, where they were so warmly embraced and brought to a mainstream television audience.” The project lands as Sugar prepare to start the North American leg of their Love You Even Still World Tour, which opens in Denver on 11 August.
