AI-generated songs are no longer welcome on Australia's main music charts.The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) has announced their new rules for how to approach AI music today. Taking into account global principles governing AI music set out by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), ARIA has declared, "Wholly AI-generated tracks will not be eligible for the ARIA Charts. Recordings that use generative AI in a supporting role remain eligible." The rule will take effect on the charts debuting this Friday, Aug. 28, dated for Aug. 31.What does a chart-eligible "supporting role" for AI entail? ARIA lists two points: "It is substantially human made" and "It raises no stream or chart manipulation concerns."
