Asher White reveals plans for new album, Love Aggregates

1 week ago 11

Love Aggregates follows 8 Tips for Full Catastrophe Living, White's first release for Joyful Noise which dropped last year, and her full-length cover version of Jessica Pratt's self-titled album. "The eagle is no omen" arrives as the first preview of the new collection of songs, which shift across folk, art-funk, and power-pop.

Speaking about the single, White explains: “A comprehensive self-inventory that earnestly attempts to thread together: my relationship to substance, gender dysphoria, eating disorder, my grandfather’s recent passing, heartbreak, moral scrupulosity and the successful rehabilitation campaign of the American bald eagle, which was declared no longer endangered in 2007.”

White wrote and recorded the new album in her DIY recording studio while her previous one was gaining more attention. Around the same time, her years-long romantic relationship ended in the midst of betrayal and addiction. “It was the first time that I was like, oh, someone is going to be hearing these songs,” she says. “And also the first time that I was, like, actually upset while writing them.”

Alongside the news of Love Aggregates, White has shared a run of US tour dates kicking off this autumn, alongside a UK and Ireland run she recently announced around her appearance at Pitchfork London on 3 November.
