Andy Shauf Announces The Party (10th Anniversary Edition) Feat. Previously Unreleased Tracks

Canadian treasure Andy Shauf made the leap to ANTI- and enjoyed a big breakthrough a decade ago with The Party, a concept album full of songs written from the perspective of different people at the same gathering. The Saskatchewan singer-songwriter is celebrating that 10-year milestone this fall with a deluxe reissue featuring previously unreleased tracks. The Party (10th Anniversary Edition) is out two months from now and will feature a slew of demos plus three finished tracks that were left off the original LP. The bonus material will be available separately as a standalone EP called the afterparty.Shauf shared this essay about the project on his website today:It’s hard to believe it’s been ten years since the release of The Party.It honestly feels like it’s been longer than that, but I suppose it was a long road to the finished record. I’ve been struggling with writing something for this tenth anniversary that isn’t overly critical of my past-self. I often struggle to know how much context is needed for something to be clearly understood, but with this, I’ve come to think that maybe self-criticism is necessary when talking about this record that’s essentially a study of shame.A ...
